Art in the Park, presented on Memorial Day weekends in the past, was the first major art show of the season in the Dayton area. This juried exhibition of fine arts and fine crafts gave our guests an opportunity to purchase unique and beautifully crafted objects directly from the artist. The Riverbend Arts Center Council, a tax-exempt, non-profit organization, sponsored this event with support from Montgomery County and the city of Dayton. The Council's principle objectives are to “promote and support the culture of the Dayton region by providing opportunities for learning, appreciating, creating and participating in the various art forms”. The variety of art exhibited at this show served to introduce the community to the types of classes offered by the center. All proceeds were used to produce the festival, enhance the programming of the art center, and to assist in other non-profit arts activities.
