DAYTON’S RIVERBEND ART CENTER COUNCIL IS PROUD TO PRESENT
THE 41ST ANNUAL ART IN THE PARK - MAY 24 & 25, 2008


Dayton’s Riverbend Art Center Council presents the exhibition, ART IN THE PARK, every Memorial Day weekend. The show takes place at the Cultural Arts Complex near DeWeese Park and the Stillwater River. (See map.) As one of the oldest shows of its type in Ohio, it has created opportunity for emerging artists and has introduced cutting-edge arts to the region. Artists from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Florida, Georgia and Arizona have set up at this show in past years. Number of artists that exhibit at this show range from 110 down to 80. It is a juried show with prizes for 1st , 2nd and 3rd places and Best of Show.

The show features art of all kinds, children’s activities, music, food and demonstrations. The Gem and Mineral Society has a large tent set up, and the instructors from Riverbend Art Center give demonstrations and display and sell their artwork.
To apply for a place in the Art in the Park exhibit, print and fill out the application and mail it to the address on the form.

  General Information

Eligibility
Booth Space

Only fine arts and fine crafts will be considered for this show. All work must be of original design and produced by the artist. No molds, imported art, or commercial forms are allowed. Exhibiting artists must be present throughout the show. Crafts dealers and sales representatives will not be accepted. The Riverbend Arts Center Council reserves the right to request the removal of work not meeting the quality and standards represented in the slides juried.

The exhibition is held at the Dayton Cultural Arts
Complex, 1301 E. Seibenthaler Ave. Exhibitors will be assigned a 12’ x 12’ space. All parts of the display must be contained within this area. Exhibitors will need to provide tents, canopies, or umbrellas that they may require. A limited number of spaces are available in our exhibition tents. Tent spaces will be 12’ x 12’ deep.
 
Security
Fees & Prizes
Security will be provided. However, Riverbend Arts Center Council and the City of Dayton cannot assume responsibility for loss or damage to any work, exhibit,personal property, personal injury, or accident suffered on the premises. Exhibitors must carry their own insurance. Security will be on-site Friday, May 23 7p.m. through Sunday, May 25 7p.m.

  How to Participate

Applicant Selection
Check-In & Set-Up

Applicants must SUBMIT THREE (3) SLIDES, PICTURES OR DIGITAL IMAGES OF RECENT WORK in each category to be displayed. Images must be representative of the range and type of work to be displayed. Images must be marked with artist’s name, medium, and a small red dot in the lower left corner. Submissions will be returned and/or used for advertising. Late entries possible if space, please call.

A LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE OR REJECTION
WILL BE MAILED AS SOON AS SELECTIONS ARE MADE.
Slides will be returned to any applicants not accepted. Slides of accepted artists will be returned on the final day of the show. Cancellations must be in writing and a $25.00 processing fee will be kept after April 15, 2008. No refunds after April 30, 2008.

A panel of jurors will select the applicants. Selections
will be made on the basis of quality, originality, and
technical execution. The decisions of the jury are final.

Exhibitors may check in and set-up on Friday, May
23th after 2 P.M. and on Saturday May 24th from 7
A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Exhibitors will receive their
booth numbers and maps of the grounds when they
check in. NO VEHICLE TRAFFIC WILL BE
ALLOWED IN THE DISPLAY AREA AFTER
END OF SET-UP
. Any exhibitors arriving after
10:00 A.M. should park in the public lots and carry
their displays. Entrance over the bridge on
Siebenthaler Avenue is now open. We will make
every effort to provide maps, directions and
signage for both our exhibitors and patrons.
Exhibits may not be removed prior to closing
hours. You may remove and store your display
overnight, although security officers will patrol the
grounds from 7 P.M. Friday to 7 P.M. Sunday.
Parking in the handicapped area or in an emergency
lane is strictly prohibited. For the safety of our
patrons, we would appreciate the exhibitors waiting
until 15 minutes after the show has ended before
dismantling displays.
